More in-depth on this topic: 🧠 Stretch tolerance is the dominant factor in the early stages of flexibility training. It reflects the nervous system’s willingness to allow movement into greater ranges by reducing protective responses. 🧬 However, if your goal is significant, long-term flexibility — like full splits — you’ll eventually need structural adaptations in the muscle–tendon unit. That means increasing muscle length by adding sarcomeres in series, and improving tissue compliance through consistent, progressive loading over time. In short: 1. Neural adaptations come first 2. Structural changes follow — and both are essential for lasting flexibility gains.

👩🏼🔬Splits are mainly made up of hamstring and hip flexor flexibility. Flexible hamstrings are important for the front leg in your splits and hip flexors for the back leg. #beststretches #learnsplits #splits
