Replying to @maha 🫧 can we trust Korean sunscreens? Here’s some tea 🍵 and more. this shouldn’t make you not wanna wear sunscreen tho. If anything, apply MORE! #koreansunscreen #spfcontroversy
#greenscreen #greenscreenvideo should you trust your sunscreens? Especially when @Ultra Violette Australian SPF is not spf 50 but in fact, spf4? I have a lot to say about this consumer test, or the spf testing methods overall. But we’ll start here today
I flew to Australia to avoid the tariffs and test seven of their most iconic sunscreens—from accessible drugstore staples to high-end cult favorites. Here’s my honest ranking from least to most favorite. Some totally lived up to the hype, while others fell flat. But after testing them all, I understand why Australian sunscreens are considered some of the best in the world. Unlike in many countries, sunscreen in Australia is regulated as a therapeutic good by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration), the same authority that oversees medicines. That means every product labeled SPF 50+ has been rigorously tested for both UVA and UVB protection, water resistance, and stability. Australia also happens to have some of the highest UV levels in the world, so effective sun protection isn’t optional—it’s part of daily life. That pressure has driven decades of innovation in texture, finish, and wearability. The result is sunscreens that are not only clinically effective, but also a pleasure to wear every day.
💔💔💔How my heart went when I saw this news. The closure of Ami Colé isn’t just news—it’s a powerful reminder that even the most groundbreaking, Black-owned beauty brands face huge hurdles in today’s market. Rapid retail expansion comes with massive costs, and structural barriers combined with shrinking funding make survival tougher than ever. This isn’t unique to Ami Colé—for many indie, Black-owned, and minority-owned businesses, the same pressures are forcing difficult decisions and, in some cases, closures. If you care about diversity and representation in beauty, your support matters more than ever. Shop small, support Black-owned and indie brands, and keep these important voices alive. And to Diarrha N’Diaye-Mbaye: thank you for building a legacy and pushing the culture forward. Your impact will be felt for years to come. #AmiCole #BlackOwnedBeauty #SupportIndieBeauty #BeautyIndustry #ShopSmall #InclusiveBeauty #DiversityMatters #FounderStory
