The best way to start every morning 🙏🏽🥹 Boomer has been having some health scares recently and we keep thinking he’s better till he has another flare (of tons of bloody vomit) so please keep him in your thoughts! He’s also getting a surgery in 10 days to have his adrenal gland removed 😭 #dog #samoyed #wholesome
#ad We took our @Subaru of America, Inc. Solterra EV for a brand new adventure for us: cross country skiing!🎿❄️🐻❄️ While it was challenging, it was so so much fun and we get to do it together with Boomer which is a win in our books. We love how safe the Solterra feels to drive in snow storm conditions with the all weather tires and my favorite is the remote start to have the car prepped and warm before getting in. Yes, it also has a heated steering wheel! ❤️ #Subaru #SubaruSolterra #dog #samoyed #crosscountryskiing #SubaruLovestheEarth #MoreThanACar #MoreThanACarCompany
#ad Every year we get the @ikonpass to ski around the country (and world) but what is so special about this winter season is that we get to use it at our local ski resort! ⛷️ It's a fun day for our entire family - we usually get there early for sunrise and take Boomer to play in the huge off leash dog park they have, he gets to exchange stories with all the pups there and then we get ready to hit the slopes! @mt.bachelor is spread out wide so we typically start at the main West Village Lodge and decide if we want blue groomers or we want to do more tree runs and decide if we want to go right or left! Highly recommend stopping at Boneyard Backcountry Bar when it's open to grab a drink and/or burrito and cozy up by the fire before doing a few more runs! After coming back, Boomer gets to go on a long walk around the resort, say hi to people and share the stoke with them before we play in the park some more and head home! Have you skied at Mt. Bachelor before? #ad #ikonpass #mtbachelor #dog #samoyed #skiday #skiseason
It’s been quite a journey and looking back we clearly missed some things which might have helped him but I’m trying hard not to beat myself up because at that point we were treating for something completely different! Anyway, I’m sharing this in case it helps anyone else because this has been a very challenging and stressful journey to say the least and pretty unique as well. Part of me wishes that the gastric issues might have been related to his cancer even though the internist thinks not, but for now, we are treating it like it’s IBD and resetting his system (plus gastric elm + veggies + probiotics) and we’ll slowly transition him to a novel protein again in a few weeks if he continues to be stable. Boomer has been raw fed pretty much his entire life and we’ve mostly switched off between beef and turkey before all this started and he could have ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING and had no stomach issues at all. I’m considering making all his food if I need to eventually but for now he’s getting hydrolyzed kibble aka cereal all day everyday (which ofc he loves lol) In a twisted type of way though, all these GI issues were why they noticed the cancer so early and were able to get it out before it had grown too big to be surgically removed giving him a good prognosis 🥺❤️ Thank you for being there for us during this rather challenging time, and here’s hoping we can go back to just posting fun Boomsie adventures all over the world again for you!!! 💕😭 #dog #samoyed #doghealth #cancersucks #adrenalectomy #dogsurgery #ibddogs
When I tell you I CRIED when they told us 😭🥹 We got so so so lucky, this is usually a type of cancer that doesn’t get detected until it’s spread into the blood vessels (the vena cava is very close to adrenal glands) or it is functional/hormone secreting so is causing some other condition like Cushing’s etc. The surgery team (thank you @vrcvet) got the entire tumor out at 4x2.5x2.5cm (which is massive compared to the size of the adrenal gland) with narrow excisions. It means we’ll have to get diagnostics every 3 months but besides that, he is CANCER FREE!!!! 🫶🏽😭❤️ We don’t know yet if the gastric issues/bloody vomits was related to it or it is IBD (for now we are tackling as if it’s IBD) but we are in a twisted way relieved he showed those symptoms because otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten the ultrasound that found the cancer till it had grown much bigger! I can’t thank you all enough for all the love and kindness you have shown us! If you have any questions about adrenocortical carcinoma or anything else with all of this, please reach out and I’m more than happy to help in any way I can! Now, we are on to tackling his bloody vomits 🙏🏽 He’s now 2 weeks from his last episode (his previous one was a week before that) His longest healthy streak has been 7 weeks so we’re hoping to beat that this time! ❤️ We have a follow up next week with the surgeon to make sure he’s all good for his next adventure to go see some Northern lights ✨ #dog #samoyed #dogcancer #doghealth #dogsofinstagram #adrenocorticalcarcinoma #samoyeddog #fluffy
