Inside El Salvador’s Self-Sufficient Prisons: El Salvador is reinventing its prison system, creating a self-sufficient model where prisoners provide for themselves, saving the country and taxpayers millions of dollars. This initiative is part of @nayibbukele plan called "Plan Cero Ocio" (Plan of No Leisure). Inside each prison, there are various workshops, including a mechanic shop, a construction site, a university, a farm, an industrial kitchen, and a new MEGA fabric factory. For each day a prisoner works or attends class, two days are deducted from their sentence. Upon release, they leave prison with a new trade, contributing to the growth of El Salvador’s economy. This factory is insane 😳 2,000 people at all times, 3 shifts a day 6,000 people. All of the public schools clothes are made here along with the prisons, hospitals, government, and etc… This factory is large enough to compete with any major manufacturer in the region. Each day a prisoner works inside this factory 2 days are reduced from their sentence.
