Let’s sew a pin hem! This technique is perfect for hemming lightweight or delicate fabrics, especially if you don’t have a rolled hem foot for your sewing machine, or you can’t quite get the hang of it. Start by folding your fabric under about 1cm and pressing it to hold the fold. Sew a straight line as close to the folded edge as possible. Next, trim away the excess fabric close to the stitching. Fold the fabric over again, ensuring your fold is even, and press if needed. Finally, sew a second line of stitching to secure the hem. And that’s it. You’re left with a beautifully finished edge—neat on both the inside and outside—with no overlocked edges in sight! #teaganjacobs #sewingtutorial #sewingtips #sewingtricks #sewtok #sewingtiktok #sewing #beginnersewing

I’m really bad at voiceovers, but this is me using a loop tuner!!! A nifty little sewing tool that turns tubes of fabric inside out. Insert the loop turner through your tube, and use the sharp end to pierce a small hole through the fabric. Next, you slide the fabric up the hook of the loop turner, and use gentle hands to pull the fabric through. I like to hook the end of the loop turner on the side of my sewing machine because it’s easier to pull the fabric through using two hands. #teaganjacobs #sewingtutorial #sewingtips #sewingtricks #sewtok #beginnersewing #sewinghelp

Currently holding space for tiny things 🪄. Come make a dress with me! I’m taking one of my popular dress designs and using some scrap fabric to make a tiny version. I’m using my 1:4 scale dress form, which I’m using to drape. Followed by refining the pattern off of the dress form, then cutting and sewing the dress just like the full scale version. #teaganjacobs #sewtok #creatorsearchinsights #fashiondraping #sewadress #fashiontiktok #fashiondesigner #makeadresswithme #miniaturedress

Is sewing clothes one of your New Year’s resolutions? Or maybe, you’ve sewn here and there, and you’re ready to take on something more! Before you dive in, I’ve listed 4 things that I think you should consider, that may help avoid any potential headaches. Firstly, check your manual on how to thread your sewing machine. If you’re experiencing thread nesting, skipped stitches, or jams, there’s a high chance it’s because of incorrect threading of the machine. So always make sure it’s threaded correctly. Second, I always recommend avoiding tricky fabrics if you’re a beginner, fabric that is slippery, stretchy or see-through poses more challenges. But if you’re going to do it, make sure you use the correct stitch length, tension, and needle. Disclaimer: this is a rough guide, every machine is different, and you should always do a scrap test first to ensure you have the correct settings. Cotton: Stitch length: 2.5-3mm Tension: ~4 Needle: Universal 70/10 or 80/12 Linen: Stitch length: 2.5-3mm Tension: ~3-4 Needle: Universal 80/12 or 90/14 Knit: Stitch length: 3mm or zigzag Tension: ~3-4 Needle: Ballpoint or stretch Denim: Stitch length: 3-4mm Tension: ~4-5 Needle: Denim needle or 90/14 or 110/8 Rayon: Stitch length: 2-2.5mm Tension: ~3 Needle: Microtex 70/10 #teaganjacobs #sewtok #sewingtiktok #sewingtricks #sewingtips #beginnersewing #sewinghelp

If you’re a fashion designer, or someone who makes clothes. This is your sign to experiment and play! Experimentation is key for fashion designers as it fosters creativity, refines skills, and helps you develop your unique voice. The next time you pick up a pencil and paper, try to take the pressure away from designing the perfect garment and just play! 🩷 #teaganjacobs #sewtok #fashiondesigner #fashiondesignerlife #sewing #fashion #sewwithme

Happy New Year 🥂! Make a New Year’s Day (Teagan’s Version) dress with me. Let’s manifest Rep TV #2025 by using a champagne satin fabric to create a bow bodice mini party dress. Using my favourite technique of draping with calico on the dress form to create a pattern, and using hand sewing to secure any gathered details. #teaganjacobs #fashiontok #sewtok #makeadresswithme #creatorsearchinsights #fashiondesigner #sewing

Meow, my cat (PJ) does my voiceover. Everyday she watches sew (sleeps on the job), so it’s only right she has a turn at my voiceover to prove all her sewing knowledge to her loyal fan base. So let PJ teach you how to do a French seam. 1. Sew your fabric wrong sides together I did 0.7cm for my first seam allowance 2. Trim your seam allowance, this makes it easier to sew your second seam in the same spot, and not have any fabric sticking out from your new seam 3. Press your fabric with your seam allowance to one side, depending on where the seam is in your garment, most seams are pressed towards the back of the body 4. Fold the fabric over, so your fabric is sandwiching your first seam, all raw edges will be enclosed and you should be now looking at the inside of your fabric 5. Sew again, I did 0.7cm again 6. Press again 7. Voila! #teaganjacobs #sewtok #creatorsearchinsights #frenchseams #sewingtips #sewingtricks #fashiontiktok

Sewing tight curves is easy, if you know where to look! Your eyes should be focused on your chosen seam allowance line on the throat plate, and if your machine has a horizontal line (where the needle enters), then even better! Start by shortening your stitch length, mine is about 3mm, the tighter the curve, the smaller the stitch length. Once you start sewing you’ll get to a point where the edge of the fabric doesn’t meet up with the seam allowance line. You’ll notice this if you’re drawing an imaginary line over the fabric where your seam allowance line is on the throat plate. To amend this, we lift the foot, pivot the fabric to realign, lower the foot, and continue to sew. We repeat this until our curve is finished. It’s important to go slow, feed the fabric very gently, and don’t pull the fabric especially from the backend of the machine. #teaganjacobs #sewtok #sewingtips #sewingtricks #beginnersewing #sewing #fashiontok

It would be silly of me not to say thank you before it’s too late. Although I live where a TikTok ban doesn’t take place, my small business will feel the impact of all of my American friends not being present on this app. Because of TikTok I went from selling clothes locally, in one of the most isolated cities in the world, to shipping clothes from my handmade womenswear label all over the world. Especially America. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being here, and supporting me in anyway you have. #teaganjacobs #savetiktok #SmallBusiness #sewtok #sewingtiktok
