One of the questions we get asked most often is about the financial side of our international surrogacy journey. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ve spent to date on our two concurrent surrogacy journeys: INITIAL STEPS & EARLY PREP: - Sperm/Blood Testing: $652 - Travel for Sperm Deposits: $2,380 - First Big Baby Purchase (a crib!): $196 (used a gift card for the second crib) - Citizenship Process (application fees, shipping): $406 CORE SURROGACY & MEDICAL (through our incredible agency & clinics): This is the most significant portion and includes payments to our amazing egg donor and wonderful surrogates, agency fees, and comprehensive medical costs for the IVF processes. - Main Agency, Donor, Surrogate & Core Medical Fees: $118,295 - Additional PGT-A Testing: $4,520 - Embryo Glue: $4,278 - Additional Embryo Transfer: $6,920 PREPARING FOR THEIR ARRIVALS (partial costs booked): - Initial Travel & First Month's Stay in Mexico for Births: $5,891 (our initial flights down and the first month of our Airbnb - return flights and additional months are part of our ongoing projected costs!) THE TALLY SO FAR: Bringing us to a total spent so far: $143,538 Remaining Projected Costs (over the next ~11 months): ~$78,028 Which would bring our Total Projected Costs to: ~$221,566 We’re sharing this not for sympathy, but for transparency, and for those of you exploring similar paths to have a real-world example. Every journey is unique, and costs can vary wildly, but knowledge is power. #surrogacycosts #realtalk #ivfjourney #financialtransparency #lgbtqfamily #dadstobe #internationalsurrogacy
Replying to @uhwhome Ever wonder how egg donation actually works? Here’s the science behind how we got 40 eggs for our surrogacy journey. 🤯 It doesn’t take from a donor's future supply, it just rescues eggs that would have been lost anyway. Next up: these 40 eggs became 2 pregnancies! #eggdonation #ivf #surrogacy #LearnOnTikTok #sciencefacts #fyp #twodads
Naming strategies 👇 1. The Barista & Backyard Test Say it out loud. Yell it across a park. Have a Starbucks barista try to spell it. If it passes these real-world tests, you're on the right track. 2. The Boardroom & Playground Check Does the name sound just as good for a CEO as it does for a kindergartener? A great name should grow with them through every stage of life. 3. The Legacy Audit What story does the name tell? Look into its origin, meaning, and cultural significance. You're not just choosing a name; you're choosing their first chapter. 4. The Monogram Check Write out their potential initials (first, middle, last). You want to catch any accidental acronyms or unfortunate combinations before they're on a diploma. 5. The Popularity Pulse Check the Social Security Administration's data. Is the name timelessly popular or just trendy? Aim for a name that feels special without being tied to a fleeting moment. 6. The Sibling Synergy Test How do the names sound together? For us, with two on the way, we want names that feel like they belong to the same story, but can also stand strong on their own. 7. The Nickname Veto Consider every possible nickname, both good and bad. If there's a nickname you can't stand, decide if it's a risk you're willing to take. What's your #1 rule for choosing a name? #babynames #parentingtips #surrogacyjourney #twodads #nesting #dadtobe #namemeaning
