This past Saturday, my heart shattered into a million pieces as I found out that @Hailey Gardiner had passed away during an emergency surgery. Hailey was family to me. I am still in shock writing this… 15 years ago, The Gardiner Sisters entered a songwriting contest of mine and they came into my life in such a huge and important way. I invited them over to our house in Riverside… and many collaborations later, they are embedded in my DNA as an artist and as a person. Hailey generously allowed me to be an honorary fourth member of the band, next to Mandi and Allie, as we performed together live for multiple shows in Hawaii, NY, and California. I will never forgot the kindness and acceptance that the Gardiners showed me. After visiting Hailey and finally meeting her husband and son in Utah in late 2021, Hailey and I released a track together in 2022, a cover of “You and Me” by Lifehouse… a song that I will never listen in the same way again. Hailey, your strong passion for music was inspiring— but it was your love for your family and those closest to you that inspired me the most. I will never have the words to properly tell you how much you impacted my life. I guess I’ll just say thank you for your friendship. We will keep your legacy alive. I love you, Hailz! Until we see each other again. AJ
