4 months into our build and here is where we are at 👀 The rain has been a huge factor for our build. We are about a month behind where we should be at this point and the rain is to thank. However, your roofer should be done in the next week or so and that will make a huge difference! Rough in plumbing is near completed and we started bringing in the tubs. Freestanding vs builtin tub? I get asked this all the time and honestly, I think it’s preference. Builtin tubs will never go out of style and the current design trends are leaning towards freestanding. But the thought of cleaning behind it all the time, having to add a piece to our bathroom to hold soaps and such, just not my cup of tea. We ran in-floor lines for our basement and garage heating systems. This week, concrete is happening! And then we can move forward! #fromhousetohomestead #homebuildingjourney #dreamhome #buildingourdreamhome
The Bare-Bones Tour! Welcome to the FHTH home! My dreams for this home is to be able to host family and friends and create a home that our kids will want to come home to! I get asked often how much this house will be to build and it’s though to put a number on it and is higher because of the current economy. The banks have given us an allowance of $1M (and because we didn’t need more thanks to selling our house last year) but its value is $1.8M+ depending on finishes - we are going to try and build it for under $800K🤯. Can we do it? We will see! This is with a lot of things unfinished and me doing the work once we are in! I share this because I want you to know what is possible when building your own home and what to expect a house to cost if you are wanting to build! Had we gone with a builder, we easily would have been paying $1.2M for the stage we want it finished at and that just wasn’t in our budget. So I hope you continue to follow along, take some notes, and I can’t wait to share more about this build and all the future projects! #homebuild #fromhousetohomestead #homebuildingjourney #hometour
